CURRENTLY AVAILABLE PROGRAMS LIGHTROOM by Adolfo Briceno (abriceno1@verizon.net) and Bob Schmitz (rrs1101@yahoo.con) This is a new application for professional photographers that is revolutionizing the way we work in the digital darkroom. Lightroom is a non-destructive program the leaves the original images untouched while manipulating our photographs. It is composed of five but expandable modules: Library, Develop, Slide Show, print and Web. This raw converter, file management and powerful photo enhancing program is poised to become the standard tool for photographers along with Photoshop. Your club memebers will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the new interface and learn useful tricks to stay ahead in the game. BLACK AND WHITE CONVERSIONS by Dick Hunt (raaah2@verizon.net) The Photoshop manual states there are over a dozen ways to convert a digital color image to Black and White and each monthly magazine seems to have an article about a new (and usually more complicated) way. This show tries simplify black and white conversions by way o f a slide show presentation followed by a live Photoshop demonstration. We will also touch on toning, spot toning, pseudo infra-red and explain why some of the latest CS tools and camera raw may NOT be the best thing for you to use. INTRODUCTION TO COLOR MANAGEMENT by Adolfo Briceno (abriceno1@verizon.net) Color management is one of the most difficult and misunderstood aspects of digital photography. We have created a lecture to help everybody to learn about color space, color temperature, gamut, color calibration devices, profiles, white balance, and color correction. Have you noticed you prints do not match the colors of your image in your monitor? Do you know how to color correct an image? Have you ever heard of metamerism? This presentation was designed to give your camera club members the edge by providing them with a solid understanding of color management. IMAGES by Dick Hunt (raaah2@verizon.net) A digital slide show set to music featuring 330 of my images taken over the past 20 years using a wide variety of film and digital cameras. The show is divided into 6 segments, each approximately 8 minute long, and titled Scenics, Black and White, Flowers, Birds, Wildlife and Tiny Creatures (macro). HOW DO YOU DO THAT IN PHOTOSHOP? By Lee Levine (leelevine15@optonline.net) This is a unique approach to learning Photoshop and it will involve the participation of each and every member of you club. Prior to my presentation each club member will receive my personal e-mail address and will have the opportunity to ask me (the speaker) how to do specific things in Photoshop. I will encourage the club members to send me an image or two along with their questions. Your images will be used in the presentation showing everybody how to approach each problem. This innovative way of teaching was tried at the Wantagh Camera Club with great success. THE KEYS TO GREAT PHOTOGRAPHS by Dick Hunt (raaah2@verizon.net) While this program is mainly about the basics of composition we will also touch on proper lighting techniques and subject matter. An excellent primer for newer photographers (and maybe a bit of a refresher course for old timers). FROM CAMERA TO OUTPUT WITH PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS By Ron Caldwell (ron@fotosbyron.com) Ron will walk you through the process of getting your photos from the camera into the computer and then creating the photo you envisioned when you pressed the shutter release. The desired result of this session is to help you develop a picture that makes you proud. The complete process uses Photoshop Elements and many of its features. You will not be burdened with hearing all that there is to know about layers. Layers are used as necessary and why they are being used is explained. This is also true of selection techniques and sharpening.
